Bluffing in Poker

Whether you like to bluff or not when you play poker online, it is an extremely important part of the game of poker. There are situations where bluffing is the right thing to do and there are times when you need to make some very hard decisions on whether or not you want to continue with a bluff or give up. One of the biggest problems that many players have is using the right amount of pressure when bluffing and not giving up a bluff too early or pushing one further than they should. Being able to manage your bluffs properly will help you win more of them more often and lose fewer chips when your bluffs are not going to work out.

The first thing that you need to remember is the importance of the number of players in the hand. Bluffing is great but you are going to have a much more difficult time bluffing 4 players than you are bluffing 2 players. With a decent number of players in the hand, you should not be pushing your bluff repeatedly. If you cannot cut down the number of players significantly after the first or second bluff, you should probably consider giving up on it.

The next thing you need to know are the proper value bets for the everestpoker hand that you are looking to try to represent. If you are trying to bluff a straight and you bet a value that would be comparable to a middling pair, your bluff will not be very convincing. The players that you are playing against will probably not fall for it.

Firing the third bullet is an extremely difficult thing to do but there are situations where you can get away with it and where it can put the pot in your stack. The only situations where I recommend firing a third bullet is if you are in a hand with one or maybe two other players and the other player or players in the hand have shown weakness or hesitation with continuing in the hand. In addition, it is extremely important that you have a very tight table image and preferably a very strong position at the table in terms of size of your stack.

If you are called on your third bullet and are caught pushing the bluff all the way, you need to forget about bluffing for a while and start playing conservatively. Being caught with your hand in the cookie jar will be severely damaging to your tight table image and it will not be fixed quickly. You can, however, sacrifice some of your PKR table image after a successful bluff in return for making other players go on tilt. Nothing is more aggravating than being bluffed out of a hand and if you make a very good bluff, it is perfectly fine to show the bluff sometimes. This will hurt your table image but, at the same time, it will make the players that you bluffed prone to going on tilt.
